Open for applications until 12 July 2026, at 11:00 (UTC)

About the programme

Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and partner organisations, we offer exceptional future leaders the opportunity to further their education in the UK, so that they can drive impact in areas of shared priority for the UK and their home countries.

At a time of unprecedented global challenges, the Chevening network offers a real cause for hope. Our community of leaders and decision-makers is already making a measurable impact in areas like climate action, economic prosperity, and conflict recovery.

If you’re ready to join a global network of leaders working with the UK to shape a more resilient, prosperous, and sustainable future, and you’ve been nominated by your chosen university, apply today.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be nominated by your chosen UK university.

Universities will nominate candidates who meet the standard Chevening eligibility requirements. For example, Chevening applicants must:

  • Have at least two years’ work experience following completion of their first undergraduate degree.
  • Not hold British citizenship or dual British citizenship.
  • Not be an employee, former employee, or direct relative of an employee of the UK Government, the British Council, or a participating UK university where this would make them ineligible under Chevening rules.
  • Commit to returning to their home country for a minimum of two years after completing their studies in the UK. In this context, ‘home’ means the country of citizenship under which you are applying for the award.

You must also:

  • Hold an offer from your nominating university, for an eligible full-time taught master’s course based in the UK and starting in autumn 2026.
  • Have already met all academic and English language requirements for entry.
  • Have no outstanding offer conditions other than demonstrating affordability or securing funding for your studies.

What’s included?

The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office will cover the cost of your course fees, paid directly to your UK university. You will also receive a one-off arrival allowance to support your move to study in the UK.

You will be expected to self-fund any remaining living costs.

If you are successful in applying to study an MBA course with Chevening, the maximum contribution is £22,000.

Other benefits include:

Access to a global network of influential leaders

As a Chevening alum, you’ll become part of a global community of more than 60,000 leaders and changemakers. This impressive network of like-minded individuals will continue to support you and your goals for impact long after you graduate.

The opportunity to engage with Chevening events and UK institutions

Scholars are invited to attend Chevening events and take part in activities that connect them with people working across government, universities, and industry in the UK.

A lifelong relationship with the UK

Chevening provides a valuable opportunity to build a lifelong connection with the UK. Throughout your studies, there is opportunity to develop relationships with government bodies and UK-based organisations, opening doors to ongoing partnership and collaboration opportunities.
