Open for applications until 7 October 2025, at 12:00 (UTC)

Chevening is the UK Government’s prestigious international scholarships programme.

Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and partner organisations, we offer exceptional future leaders the opportunity to further their education in the UK.

At a time of unprecedented global challenges, the Chevening network offers a real cause for hope. Our community of leaders and decision-makers is already making a measurable impact in areas like climate action, economic prosperity, and conflict recovery.

If you feel ready to join us, and take advantage of a fully funded world-class education, exclusive networking opportunities, and the chance to immerse yourself in the UK’s diverse culture, we can’t wait to read your application.

The UK government and Chevening are fully committed to the safety and security of Russian nationals participating in the Chevening programme.

The FCDO has completed a full assessment of the viability of offering eligible Russians the opportunity to apply for a 2026-2027 Chevening Scholarship.

Given recent Russian legislation, we have concluded prospective applicants currently residing in Russia could face serious security risks, and financial and logistical implications, over which the UK Government has no control. As a result, we are offering Russians, resident outside of Russia, the opportunity to apply for a Chevening Scholarship to study in the UK.

For the 2026-2027 academic year, we will only be able to accept applications from Russians who are resident in a country other than Russia.

This decision will be kept under review for the 2027-2028 academic year.

If you choose to apply for a Chevening Scholarship you acknowledge that a Chevening Scholarship is not an offer of resettlement to the UK and participants will be expected to follow standard Chevening policy once they’ve completed their studies. Chevening Scholars from Russia should interpret ‘home’ in the Terms and Conditions 13. a), b) and d) in relation to their country of residence, not citizenship.

You should take independent advice about how your participation in the Chevening scheme might be perceived in your own country, including the possible reaction of your own Government as well as any related risk. You should also refrain from publicly advertising your application, including on social media.
